A ThanksGiving Riddles Party Game

Looking for something fun and exciting to add to your families Thanksgiving Day gathering?

The CodeBusters Thanksgiving Riddles party game could be just the thing to provide your dinner with a bit of extra fun, or just give the younger ones something to do while you're in the kitchen.

This game is great for all ages, so you can set the kids up to play it by themselves or make it a family game with teams and friendly competition. The sweet spot would be ages 8 and up, but younger children can definitely play if you create teams with an age mix.

How do you play?

Wondering how this Thanksgiving Riddles Party Game works?

In this game players race to solve the riddles, find the hidden answers, decode the Code Cards, and discover the four digit code to win the game!

This game can be players multiple ways:

Treasure Hunt
Escape Room
Speed Game

Depending on which version of the game you choose to play game time can last 20-60 minutes.

In addition to this printable game you will need a hole punch and I also suggest (though not required) a four digit - choose your own code lock. This links you to a good one on Amazon but you can also find one at local stores.

1. 28 game cards are hidden through the hiding area - 8 Riddle Code Cards (each with their own color), and 20 CodeBuster cards. The CodeBuster cards are cards with images on them that can decode a riddle card. You will need to use the one with the correct image on it (the one that answers the riddle) in order to get the correct code number. See the example for the green riddle card below.

As you can see in the above example the riddle is shown above the green code.

The Thanksgiving Riddle for this card reads What Key Doesn't Open Any Doors? The answer is TurKEY.

The Turkey card is a CodeBuster card and is hidden with 20 other CodeBuster Cards throughout the playing area. Players will be provided with the 8 Riddle Code cards at the start of the game, they will have to search for the CodeBuster cards to find the one that answers each Thanksgiving riddle.

Once they find the correct card they will place that CodeBuster card over the Riddle card and the secret code number can then be seen through the keyhole (you punch all the keyholes out with a hole punch before hiding them) They will then write that number on their Players sheet.

Once players discover the seccret code number for each riddle they can do the simple math to discover the winning 4 digit combination!

The Players sheet is also where they will know where to find the Codebuster cards. When you open this file you are able to click in those 20 blank spaces and type where you are hiding each card.

It also has a brief instruction how-to to help guide the players.

Players can all work together or you can divide them into two or three teams of 2-4 players. If you want to play with more players than these you will need to print out double the Thanksgiving Riddle cards and add more teams.

Each team gets the 8 colored Thanksgiving Riddle cards and a Players Sheet to start the game. The players sheet has a brief list of instruction and spaces to record the code numbers they discover.

3 ways to play!

TREASURE HUNT: This is when you hide the clues through out a playing area, it can be outdoors, in the house, in a classroom, at a church - anywhere. You will need to use a box you can lock using the 4 digit padlock. Place your prize in the box and players/teams race to discover the combination to the box and be the first to claim the treasure.

ESCAPE ROOM: Lock players in a room using the 4 digit combination padlock and a chain OR you can lock the door and tell players they must text you the correct four digit code in order for the door to be opened. Hide the game cards through out and room. Players will NOT be playing against each other but instead cooperating together to escape the room.

SPEED CONTEST: For this version you do not hide the game cards at all. You simply provide the players/teams with the 30 cards - if you have more than one team they will each need a set. The goal is still to find the four digit code, but this version eliminates the need to find the cards. Players will not need the regular Players Sheet, you can simply cut off the bottom of the Players sheet and give that portion to them.
