How does this pirate treasure hunt work?

Players are given the first clue and must figure out the answer in order to discover the hiding location of the next pirate hunt clue.  The clues off a variety of different activities, riddles, games, and puzzles for the children to solve.  No two clues are alike. A pirate decoder sheet is also included which children will use to solve some of the clues. 

Each pirate clue does has a numerical answer.  This is what enable you to decide the hiding locations.  Along with the hunt comes a clue locator.  This is a sheet that is numbered from 1-30.  You each number with a hiding locations.  Only 10 hiding locations are actually going to be used for the game, the rest are decoys.  Instructions are included to give you the answers to each clue and to tell you what numbers to write the real hiding spots.

EXAMPLE

The above clue on the left is the first clue given.  Children use the coder sheet (right)  to determine what the symbols mean (2+8). The answer to this first clue is 10.  Children then look on their key locator and see what hiding location is listed under number 10.  When they look in that location they will find the second clue list above.  The continue to solve and find clues until they complete all 10 and find the treasure!

Who is the Kids Pirate Party Treasure Hunt Game For?

Boys and Girls Ages 7-12.  I say seven, but my six year old boy was able to complete the activities, though he did need some help reading.  If you plan on helping then this would be suitable for slightly younger children as well. This hunt does involve reading so if you pre readers will need help reading the clues.
